M 13 – The Hercules Cluster

Description:

The globular cluster M13 or Messier 13, called the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules, is among the most imposing objects of the Messier catalog. With more than 500,000 stars, it is also one of the oldest objects: its age is estimated at 12 or 14 billion years. à

At the telescope, M13 looks like a fuzzy ball of light, The greater the diameter of the objective lens, the more individual stars can be grasped. With a higher magnification in a fair size telescope, the sight of this cluster is fascinating, almost unreal. It can be sighted with a pair of binoculars if you know where to look.
