M 33 – The Triangulum Galaxy

The Triangulum galaxy is part of the Local Group of galaxies with our Milky Way and about 80 others. In fact, this local group of galaxies contains 2 lobes including one in which is located our Milky Way and its satellite galaxies and another which contains the Andromeda galaxy (M31) and its own satellite galaxies of which M 33 is part. These two lobes are moving towards each other. The Triangulum galaxy is the third largest galaxy in the Local Group after the Andromeda galaxy and the Milky Way. Its name comes from the constellation Triangulum in which it is located
