(65803) Didymos
Description:
Didymos is a small asteroid, 765 meters in diameter, whose moon Dimorphos, 160 meters in diameter, was struck by the DART spacecraft on September 26, 2022. The mission’s goal was to assess whether it was possible to deflect a small celestial body that could potentially collide with Earth.
The impact of the spacecraft on Didymos’s moon created a cloud of dust, which I managed to photograph one month after the impact. At that time, the asteroid was 15.4 million kilometers from Earth.
