NGC 925 – A barred spiral galaxy

Description:

NGC 925 in the constellation Triangulum is a barred spiral galaxy located 30 million light-years away from us. The two arms are quite different, one being longer and better defined and the central bar is not exactly in the middle. These two characteristics make it a “Magellanic” type galaxy.

Telescope: Celestron Edge HD14 with a 0,7x focal reducer
Mount: Paramount MX+
Camera: ZWO ASI 2600 MM
Filters: Baader CMOS-optimized LRGB and Ha
Exposures: 73 x 6 minutes in luminance, 30 x 6 minutes with RGB filters, and 8 x 10 minutes in H-alpha for a total of 12 hours
Location: Backyard observatory in Sainte-Sophie, Qc
