Comet NEOWISE

Description:

The comet that stole the show in 2020! C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE) was discovered on March 27, 2020 by the NEOWISE space telescope. It passed perihelion on July 3, 2020 at 43 million km from the Sun. This move, close to the Sun, dramatically increased its activity, making it widely visible to the naked eye. After passing through perihelion, the comet developed a second tail made of gas while the main one is made of dust.

It passed closest to Earth on July 23, 2020, at a distance of 103 million km.
