NGC 4565 – The Needle Galaxy

NGC 4565, the Needle Galaxy, is a spiral galaxy seen edge-on between 40 and 50 million light years away from us. It appears to us a little brighter than an identical face-on galaxy would appear because all the luminosity is concentrated along a thin line.
