NGC 6820 – An emission nebula

Description:

The nebula NGC 6820 in the constellation of Vulpecula is a cluster of hydrogen gas located 6,000 light-years away. It is a site of star formation, and the radiation emitted by young blue stars pushes the gas and “sculpts” the surrounding dust into structures like this impressive column several dozen light-years long.
